OOTD_Shift Dress

Mr. and I had a little lunch date on Friday, so I put together this outfit as I wanted to look a bit more dressy than my usual. We went to Cafe Boungiorno and it was absolutely delicious!

I really love the cutout detail in this dress. It takes a plain dress to something a bit more exciting. The tights I'm wearing in this look are absolutely phenomenal! They are baby soft, the perfect fit and really nice and warm. I'm sad I didn't discover them sooner as I used to shy away from skirts and dresses in the winter due to my tights not coming up high enough on my belly. There's also a big range of colours and patterns to choose from as well.

OOTD_Overalls

As promised here are the overalls I purchased recently. They are beyond comfortable as they are really roomy but without the fear of them falling down.

Yep you read that right, these flats are actually Crocs brand. I really dislike the classic crocs shape but when my friend bought a pair in a Mary Jane style and raved about how comfortable they were I thought about getting my hands on some for work. Then yesterday while at Savers I spotted these ones (which fit perfectly) for $5! I quick wash with soap and water and they were ready to go. Boy are they comfy. They are incredibly supportive and no rubbing at all! 

Has anyone else tried the Crocs flats?

OOTD_Acid Wash and Platform Sneakers

I put together this outfit for work last week. I wanted something work appropriate but I had to go straight to a friends 21st so I wanted to be warm and comfy as well. Luckily I went for comfy as I didn't get home until 5 in the morning! (I'm usually such a homebody)

I am completely and utterly in love with this jumper. Plus, I get to wear it at work (Bonus!).This outfit is a lot more monochrome than I've been wearing lately, usually I'll wear a bright piece or two, but I wanted to go for something a bit different. I've been getting so much wear out of this top, it's pretty much a basic in my wardrobe now. I got these platform sneakers on special from Sportsgirl as I had been eyeing off a pair for a while. These still need a bit of wearing in (lots of blisters), but I think they will be great in a week or so.

This weekend is denim themed at work so I'm thinking of breaking out my new overalls for the occasion.

OOTD_Cropped Denim

This is a little outfit I threw together for work last week. I'm really enjoying all the new clothes I'm getting for work and am so excited to show you my new purchases!

I absolutely love peplum at the moment, I don't know how I lived without it for so long. I love that it cinches me in at the waist but also hides all the problem areas. The kimono was a definite must for me. I love floral and I love chiffon and this is the perfect piece to throw on to show the versatility of plain tops. I'm really in love with these jeans as well. I mentioned previously that I wanted to try the jeans City Chic makes for apple shaped ladies which these are. They are a little loose in the waist so I wouldn't go for the apple shape again but it's not something a good belt can't fix.

I went on a bit of a work spending spree yesterday so I have lots of new items to wear. I'm really excited to put some things together to show you.

OOTD_Peachy Keen

I wore this to go buy some clothes for work from harbour town. Unfortunately I underdressed as it was so windy and cold but it was a fairly quick trip so it didn't matter too much.

I get complimented on these pants every time I wear them. I really love the pattern and they were only $19! I really like pairing it with this top to bring out the pop of peach in the flowers. I'm not getting as much wear out of this jacket as I'd like only because it has been so cold lately, but I'm sure come spring it will be my go to jacket to throw on over everything. 

I can't believe how long my hair looks in these pictures. This time last year I had a pixie crop and it's almost completely grown out now. I'll try and hunt down some photos to show you.

Makeup. Monday_Lilac Lovin'

I wasn't 100% happy with today's look. Unfortunately I had to do my makeup in a rush because I had a really full day so the colour wasn't as intense I had hoped. Hopefully I can try it again and show you all the results. I decided to stray from my usual and put a bit of colour into my eyeshadow today. I recently bought a beautiful floral sheer kimono for work (outfit post to come) and I wanted something that would tie in with the pretty pastels in the flowers.

I used a pale lilac over the lid with a plum purple in the crease. The lip colour is Revlon balm stain in Darling which I mentioned last week and I used Benefit Posie tint on my cheeks. I really like how girly this look is, next time I want to focus more on the lilac and really build up the colour.

I feel like I'm really channelling spring with this makeup, even though it's right in the middle of winter!

OOTD_First Day

Just a quick outfit post today to show you what I wore to my first day of work. It was so so cold so I finally broke out my winter coat and I was surprised with just how nicely it fit, I didn't remember it fitting this well before.

I'm really enjoying work. Everyone is so nice and I'm learning so much. I'm actually excited to go in everyday. These jeans are so great. They are from the City Chic TDF range which have different fits for each body shape. I got the hourglass skinny jeans in the long length (it was all they had, I'll definitely be going the short length next time) and they fit great. They are truly high waisted and have adjustable elastic on the inside if your waist is really tiny in proportion to your hips. I'm going to eventually buy a black pair in the short length but I also want to try the skinny jeans for Apple shaped and even though I'm not usually a fan I want to check out their bootleg offerings too.

Has anyone else tried the TDF jeans?

Makeup Monday_Recent Lipstick Purchases

I was really unmotivated with my blogging last week. The weather was terrible and I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm to put together interesting blog posts for you to read. Hopefully I'm over my funk and back to blogging regularly. 

About a week ago I went shopping with a good friend and her younger sister and picked up some new lipsticks. I'm an absolute lipstick fiend and when I see specials I just can't help myself.

I never thought I would be one to buy black lipstick, but when I saw this Sportsgirl one on sale for $4.95 I had to try it out. I'm a big fan of the Pout About It range of lipsticks from Sportsgirl and this one is no exception. It's fairly pigmented with a smooth consistency. I'm not sure if it's in my head but it kind of smells like eyeliner and it's a little bit unsettling but nothing I can't get used to. When I wear this out I will definitely be using a lip liner to even out the application as it can be a bit sheer.

This one was actually given to me by my friend as she found it far too drying. I wore this one to work the other day and I really liked it. When they say ColourStay they really mean it. This lasted all day without budging at all, even when I tried to remove it with makeup remover and I didn't find it drying at all. The only issue I have is that it's a fairly neutral colour and I tend to go for brights but it will be great for days I decide to go for a statement eye.

This one is the sheerest of the group. I actually expected it to be a neutral gloss but after a few coats it builds to a bit of an opaque peach. This goes on so smooth and is super moisturising which you would expect from a lip butter. I'll admit it I bought this one for the packaging, it just looked so luxurious.

I was a little disappointed with this one. It came out much pinker than what it looks and I was hoping for a really cool purple tone. However it applies really well and smells like mint which is awesome. I haven't lost hope on this one as I think I will be able to make it work.

Tomorrow I'm going shopping for some more clothes for work so I'll be sure to show you what I get.

Makeup Monday_Garnier Micellar Water Review

This week I wanted to share my thoughts on Garnier's Micellar Water. I had read a few reviews online and found it for half price in Coles so I thought I would give it a try. I've been using it for about 2 months now and have used a quarter of the bottle.

Micellar water seems to be a big thing in the beauty industry at the moment. It is quick and easy to use as it doesn't require rinsing. It is also suitable for all skin types and is a gentle way of removing makeup.

So I have been using this for a couple of months now and I wish I could give it a more positive review. I've mainly been using it to remove my makeup at the end of the day but I find that it doesn't remove my makeup as effectively as I had hoped. It definitely takes more than one swipe to remove my eye makeup (I don't wear waterproof mascara) and even when I think I have removed it all I will rub my eye and look like a panda. I've also found my skin has also been a bit oilier than usual and I'm getting a bit bumpy on my forehead which I've never experienced before. To it's credit it is incredibly convenient to use though, just apply a tiny bit to a cotton pad and you're ready to go. It's so easy I do it in bed before I go to sleep.

I think I will hold off using it to remove my foundation as I don't want my skin to be too oily. I'm currently looking into getting eyelash extensions and I have heard that Micellar waters are a really good option for removing makeup from lash extensions so I will be giving that a try and will let everyone know how it goes. 

Overall it is an okay product. I'm happy I didn't pay full price for it and I'm still unsure if I will purchase it again. I would recommend this product for those with drier and more sensitive skin as I even my normal skin has been left a bit oily from it.

OOTD_Fur and Lace

Today I had an induction for my NEW JOB! I'm now a casual employee at City Chic, a plus size clothing store in Australia. I'm so excited to start next week and help all those beautiful curvy ladies feel great about themselves.

Obviously this means I'll be wearing a lot more City Chic clothes which I'm really excited for as they are so well made and fit perfectly. I'm also really excited to be able to start wearing brighter colours again as hairdressing was a bit restrictive in that respect. I picked out this top and leggings yesterday specifically for my induction and I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't capture it very well but these leggings are a shiny silver material with a lace overlay and zips at the ankles. They are so comfy and I'm sure I'll get lots of wear out of them. I would've liked to have gone a size larger in the top as I had to downsize because it was the only size left. Having said that, I popped a control slip underneath and I felt much more confident about it. I picked up these sneaker heels on special and I'm so glad I did. They are amazingly comfortable and gave this outfit just the edge it needed.

Hopefully I'll be able to show you lots of new clothes in the next few weeks.

OOTD_Pastel

This was an outfit I threw together for some appointments. I was also wearing a cardigan but by the time I got home and took these photos it was so warm! (silly autumn weather)

This was the second time I wore these heels and I was actually surprised I lasted pretty much the whole day running around in them. I'm not usually a big heel wearer as my feet get sore quickly but these ones really surprised me and I'll definitely be wearing them more often.

OOTD_Thrifted Denim

Last Monday was the Queen's birthday holiday in Adelaide so Mr. and I went on a little trip to St. Kilda adventure park with his mum, brother and some family friends. It was a really nice day even though it was absolutely freezing and windy.

I headed to Savers last week to look for knitting supplies (which I didn't find any of) and ended up finding this amazing denim jacket for $14! I've been looking for a denim jacket for almost 10 years now and this one is absolutely perfect. It fits so well and is the perfect shade of blue. The rest of my outfit is pretty standard everyday wear for me; I usually always wear leggings and a long top with some comfy shoes.

OOTD_Rugged Up

The other day I went on a bbq/picnic with Mr. and my dad. It was a really wonderful afternoon and I got some great snaps of the park (which I will put in a separate post) but it was really chilly in the shade so I was glad I brought along the new poncho I made.

I got these shoes for a job trial and I wanted to wear them in a bit before I'm stuck in them all day, they are surprisingly comfortable though. I was so toasty in this poncho I made from a throw rug I bought from Woolworths, it was really easy to throw on when the sun went away or put it in my bag when it got a bit warmer. I'm seriously so in love with these pants. I got them so cheap and they have lasted a really long. They are my go to pants when I want to be warm and comfy but a little bit quirky at the same time.

Friday Favourites_Tunes

This week I wanna talk about some of my favourite songs at the moment. I really haven't had much of a chance to listen to a lot of  new music lately but there are a few that I just can't help but groove along to. 

The first song I'm really enjoying at the moment is High by Peking Duk, an Australian electronic duo. While the weather is starting to get really cold this song has an awesome summer anthem vibe to it. Everything about it is so on point and it makes we want to sing along every time I hear it. 

Another one really worth a mention is Tennis Court by Lorde (Flume remix). I'm a really big fan or Lorde in general and this remix by Australian producer and DJ, Flume, is no exception. Flume has great beats and this works so well with Lorde's quirky melody. I definitely groove along whenever I hear this one. 

The last song I want to mention is Summer by Calvin Harris. This one is obviously a summer anthem which when hearing it makes me jealous of everyone in the northern hemisphere going into summer. (I dont even really like the heat!) Every time I hear it I just want to sing and dance and spend all my money on music festivals. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Calvin Harris live a couple of years ago and he did not disappoint.

OOTD_Green With Envy

I wore this outfit to go drop in a resume earlier this week. Unfortunately the manager wasn't in so it was a bit of a wasted trip but I was still really happy with this outfit.

This was such a comfortable outfit to wear. I haven't worn these boots in ages but I'll definitely be getting them out a bit more this winter. They're a really nice height although they do fit a bit loose so next time ill pair them with some chunky socks. I'm absolutely in love with this top. I actually have one in lilac as well and I get so much wear out of them. 

I made a poncho out of a throw rug today, hopefully I'll be able to snap some nice photos of it tomorrow if the weather is nice.

Makeup Monday_Smokey Eye

I thought I'd go with a something a bit different for me today. I usually try to wear fairly clean cut makeup, something that will open my eyes up as I feel they are pretty small. However I really like a good smokey eye so I though I'd give one a try today.

(I apologise for the extreme regrowth, I'll hopefully be getting my hair done next week. I'm so excited!)

I decided to use a really dark brown for my smokey eye as I wanted it to be a bit softer than the traditional black. I built up the colour with a few layers of dark brown shadow in the outer corner and up to the crease and used the same dark brown shadow under my lower lash line. I then used a black 

Iiquid liner on my top lash line and a black eyeliner pencil on the lower lash line followed by three coats of Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express in Smokey Black. I paired it with a fairly neutral pink lipstick called Jive by Australis. It's a really nice rosy pink with just a hint of lavender. 

I actually really enjoy the look. I probably wouldn't wear it as an everyday look but it's something I really want to try for a night out. What do you think?

OOTD_Time For Dinner

It's really starting to get cold in Adelaide at the moment. A lot of the blogs I'm reading are going into summer and embracing the warm weather and here I am all rugged up. Today I was off to meet up with my mum for dinner and then hang backstage at her theatre production.

I though I'd try something different with my hair, I usually always wear it straight or up but I'm very very envious of those girls with natural curl. It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted as my hair had been freshly washed so didn't have much grip to it but it's given me motivation to try it again. I'm so glad I got this backpack out again. It's super spacious so it holds everything I need, including my ipad, camera and a good helping of fashion magazines. I needed to throw on a coat with this that I unfortunately didn't get to photograph because it was just that cold. Today's rain also made me realise I'm going to have to look for some more winter boots as my current shoe situation just won't cut it.

Anyone have any favourite boots at the moment that I should check out?
